How it started
I had a fixed set of core exercises I did three times a week. I kept track of it in excel and once in a while uploaded it to an AI to check in. I used the default Clock app on my phone to time the exercises for rest, but it was a bit cumbersome. I wanted to make something that would help me keep easier track of my workout.
I preferred a web app because I wanted to be able to create new workouts from my laptop and have them on my phone.
After that I started adding more features. I wanted to keep track of my best lifts, so I added a one rep max calculator and a history of all my workouts. I also added a way to create routines, so I could chain exercises together and have the app guide me through them.
Then came routines, for training at home. Some exercises are on a timer and some are just reps, and the app plays through them for me.
I also wanted to keep better track of my food, but without much fuss. A dietician told me a while ago roughly what I can eat in a day, so I already know that. A yoghurt drink, six slices of bread, a tub of quark, dinner, that sort of thing. I don't need to scan anything, I just tick off what I ate.
But I'll be honest, I did add features I didn't really need, like a barcode scanner, or an AI that estimates the kcal, but now that I have it, I use it.
I also added a mood tracker, because I wanted to see if my mood was affected by my alcohol use, workouts, social life and nutrition.
Mostly I use it to stay consistent. I want to train three times a week. Seeing that I'm making progress is a nice bonus. I'm not really a believer in one rep max numbers, but I always looked at them at the gym anyway, because it's just fun.
